Geoffrey J. Carpenter

Principal

Learn More

Geoff attended law school at the University of Western Ontario and earned a Master’s in Law at Osgoode Hall. He is also a trained mediator certified by the Ontario Association for Family Mediators for both family law and child protection. He is a panel member for the Office of the Children’s Lawyer, the Office of the Public Guardian and Trustee and provides on-site mediation services as the Milton Courthouse through Legal Aid Ontario. Geoff has also been appointed a Dispute Resolution Officer by the Superior Court of Justice and in this role helps litigants in Court try to resolve their dispute at the first stage without having to argue before a judge. He has argued at every level of Court in Ontario, including the Court of Appeal.

As the child of divorce himself, Geoff is well aware of the emotional impact family law disputes have on participants and their children. As a result, he no longer practices adversarial family law and is now restricting his private practice to mediation and arbitration.

Outside of work, Geoff lives in Oakville and is heavily involved in the local community. He is the former Chair of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Halton, and works with numerous local causes and organizations. Geoff is also the proud father of two young boys and an avid fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs.
